MYSTERY CLUB NOTES FROM PAM...
Our group cruised past the halfway point for Mystery Club #13. We have made at least four different blocks. Some have constructed their project using traditional methods, others have given the Studio 180 rulers a try. Either way, the results are going to be a spectacular surprise. And so we have the mystery! No more cutting for this series, but please bring all your fabrics and completed blocks. We are going to start part of the assembly. Come try to guess where this is going. Hope to see you Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. OR 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Notes from Joey...
Did you notice the parakeet on Bonnies shoulder in the Kids Kamp picture? That bird was in the shop all day long and Mama didn't take me to the shop to see it.
She said that she had the bird on her shoulder and on her head too. I knew she smelled funny when she came home! I might not have really good eyes, but there's nothing wrong with my nose, by golly.
I still love my 'STROS!
Licks and kisses, Joey
QUILTING ANGELS - CHARITY QUILTERS
This is a picture from Monday’s charity bee day. Donna from Methodist Sugar Land Hospital came by to pick up the baby items we had ready for their community baby shower. We gave her 20 nursing aprons with boning in the top, 20 flat nursing covers, 3 baby quilts, 1 baby blanket, and 159 burp cloths with coordinating sets of nursing pads! We are almost finished sewing up our donations; we have a few more burp cloths and nursing covers to make. We will get those to Donna before the event in early August.
I got an email from Connie this week, who does a lot of binding for us. She has a friend who has been receiving cancer treatments. Her friend let her know that she was delighted to receive a quilt from the Quilting Angels at the oncologist’s office where we donate lap quilts. It was a quilt that Connie had sewn down the binding on, and it was really nice for her to see what a difference it made for her friend!
We have another sweet story to share as well. One of our ladies, Lyn, was hand sewing binding on a charity quilt, and visiting with some neighborhood children while she worked. Lyn explained to the kids that the Quilting Angels make quilts to give away to people who need them. The children told her that they know someone who needed a quilt. Their coach had recently died by suicide, and his son, who is on their team, was taking it really hard. She inquired if it was okay to give him the quilt, and of course we said, “Absolutely”. When she finished the binding, she was able to give the nine-year-old boy the quilt. It is a children’s quilt with a space and planets theme. Apparently, he loves space, so it was the perfect quilt for him.
We love hearing these feedback stories! It makes us feel like we are doing the right thing to bless people by using our skills to make quilts to give away.
We will meet to sew quilt tops again on Monday, July 16. We welcome anyone who would like to sew for charity to join us between 10:00 and 3:00. I can be reached by emailing Susan at email@example.com.
Doing good for others makes it a better world for us all, Susan

SAVE THE DATES
More details will be following next week, but we wanted you to know about the great week of Christmas classes we have planned in July.
July 21 (Saturday) will be Elizabeth's Christmas Star quilt. We have already added a picture and more description - it's a great quilt and could be made of any fabric, but looks especially great in her selection of Christmas fabrics!
July 22 (Sunday) is Pam Brown's day of the Dresden. She will be teaching her class to make a Christmas neighborhood in the shape of a Dresden plate. It's a wallhanging, uses a Dresden ruler and fusible, so there's no need to fret over getting 20 pieces to lay flat in a circle!
July 23 (Monday) is Kids Day. Pam Baum and Bonnie McCormick will be hosting a gathering to create Christmas presents, decorations, etc. Ages 8 and up. (yes, adults are welcome too!)
July 24 (Tuesday) will be focused on use of the Mini Quick Curve Ruler to create "The Giving Tree." Pam Baum will be teaching use of this great tool that makes pieced curves easy. It's a great wallhanging or table topper and could be made with different colors for each season.
July 26 (Thursday) is a day for beginners or anyone who wants to get a quilt done quickly. Pattie Fox is teaching the Disappearing Nine Patch, which is an easy quilt that looks quite complex. Made with precut squares, it goes together in a snap.
July 27 (Friday) is AccuQuilt day. Bonnie McCormick will be focused on a variety of Christmas projects, using AccuQuilt dies for piecing and applique, even adding some machine embroidery.
And last, but certainly not least, July 28 (Saturday), Rose Ann Cook will be celebrating Christmas week with "Bowl Fillers." What's a bowl filler? A really cute hand applique project, finishing at 4" x 6". There are snowmen, Santas, cardinals, reindeer - all in the same pattern. These guys will definitely add charm to holiday decorations.
We're still working on some details, but we want you to know about some of our great classes coming in the next few months!
Cathedral Windows - August Thursdays 9, 16, 23, 30
Clockworx, a beginner Judy Niemeyer paper piecing project, August 18
Scalloped Borders and Bias Binding, August 24 or September 1
Machine Embroidery Clutch in the Hoop, September 9
Winter Traditions, a Niemeyer Snowflake Quilt, September 22, 23, 24
Neighborhood - $35
NOTE: We do know that the picture at right is a Halloween Dresden Neighborhood (isn't it cute?), but we don't have our Christmas sample done yet and we wanted you to see the project asap.
Join us for a Sunday afternoon of fusing fun! We will teach you the basics of making a happy Christmas neighborhood in the shape of Dresden plate, a great wallhanging to celebrate the holiday season. You will create a variety of wonky houses to express your holiday vibe - silly, traditional, or whatever else you desire!
Teacher - Pam Brown
Sunday, July 22, 12:30-5
Giving Tree Wallhanging or
Table Topper - $30
We have a great project that looks much more difficult than it actually is, suitable for anyone of advanced beginner stage and above. Yes, it's curved piecing, but this is the Quick Curve Ruler method, which makes for beautifully perfect blocks. For all who have listened to Pam Baum wax eloquent on the wonders of the Studio 180 rulers, you know that she loves to trim down her units to make them as perfect as possible. Here is another ruler that follows the same principle, only with curves! Join us for a fun day of sewing, learn the wonders of the mini-QCR, and make a great project all at the same time!
Teacher - Pam Baum
Tuesday, July 24, 11-3 (but you can stay later if you want!)
Disappearing Nine Patch, Christmas Style - $45,
Includes 2 charm packs and pattern
We just love the variety of designs that can be created using this method of piecing. In this beginner class, Pattie will lead you through the process of making nine patch blocks and then cutting them to pieces! If you have ever thought that you might need permission to cut up your pieced blocks, Pattie is the person to encourage that practice. For piecers of all skill levels, this is a class sure to be fun and productive.
Teacher - Pattie Fox
Thursday, July 26, 11-3
Christmas Stars - $40 (includes pattern)
Let's use your Studio 180 V Block and Square Squared Rulers to make these star blocks in seasonal colors. Set on-point, these stars can made in the most elegant or cheerful or metallic fabrics. Other possibilities will be explored for making borders for this quilt. Put your Tucker University skills to a practical use. The quilt measures a practical 62 inches square with the borders as shown. Pattern included.
Teacher - Elizabeth Oldham
Saturday, July 21, 10:30-5
Summertime Boot Camps
If you have ever wanted to spend a week immersed in a quilt project, we have a couple of options for you this summer. The first is Beginning Quiltmaking. This is a 4 day class that takes the participants through the entire process of making a quilt. It's a great introduction to the art of quiltmaking! And the fifth day of that week can be spent learning machine quilting and binding - it's always great to know the basics of finishing the project!
We are excited to announce another Judy Niemeyer Technique of the Month class, this time as 6 days in a row! Our Certified Instructor, Jan Mathews, will lead the class through the entire process of paper-piecing a quilt using the efficient Niemeyer methods. This is a class for anybody who is familiar with their sewing machine. Six days in a row - and you can leave your machine and supplies at the shop instead of hauling them back and forth. Check out the information in our classes section for more information.
