Customer Appreciation Day - THIS SATURDAY! March 17
We are so excited that this Saturday is our Customer Appreciation Day! Bring your ticket collection and put them in numerical order and be at the shop! We usually get a lot of people in the shop on that day, so show up early to get a seat. Otherwise it is standing room only.
Earlier in the day, we will do demonstrations on some of our favorite products and offer very special savings on everything that we demo, so if you have your heart set on Accuquilt, Martelli tables, Sew Steady, and more, you will want to come early to check out the special values! We have great Janome machines in stock and they will be at VERY good prices just for that day!
Rose Ann will start drawing tickets for all of the prizes at around 3pm. It helps to have the numbers on your tickets written down in numerical order so that when she starts calling numbers, you can go through them faster to see if you are a winner. Prizes include fabric, notions, finished quilts and a sewing machine! Remember, you have to be there to win! See you then!
Greater Houston Shop Hop - This Month!!!!
The Greater Houston Shop Hop is coming up on March 21 - 24! Hours will be 9am - 6pm each day, except for Friday when we will stay open until 7pm.
Call your friends and join us for our "Quilting is Timeless" Shop Hop! Participating shops include Quilter's Emporium, Quilters Cottage, Quilt N Sew, Calico Cats, Pinwheels and Posies, Cactus Quilts, Fabrics Etcetera, Quilters Crossing and Quilters Quarters. Passports are free, of course. When you turn in your completed passport, you are enrolled for prizes such as:
Grand Prize: Quilting Cruise for 2 out of Galveston, March 3, 2019
First Prize - 9 $50 gift certificate, one from each of the participating shops
Second Prize - Stella Desk Lamp
Third Prize - A $50 gift certificate from one of the participating shops
All Shop Hoppers who turn in their completed passports will receive a coupon page good until December 31, 2018 for a return trip to each shop.
Daily Drawings - Each shop will draw 2 names at the end of each Shop Hop Day from the list of Hoppers who visited that day and award them each a $25 gift certificate!
Mystery Club notes from Pam...
Mystery #13 has started, but there are a couple of slots open, and
plenty of time to finish the first clue before our next meeting on Saturday,
March 31st. If you hesitated, there is still time to get started for our
current session. Come by the shop, and register, and let our staff get
you started. Remember this session, we are offering optional cutting
instructions to allow you to use your Studio 180 rulers. In the meantime,
the finished quilts for Mystery #12 are going up for the Viewer's Choice
Award. Drop into the shop and select your favorite quilt. Voting
starts this week, but it won't last long! Come by and support your
favorite. Next Mystery #13 Sessions are: Saturday, March 31, 2018
at 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. OR 11:30 a.m. - -1:30 p.m.
Notes from Joey...
Mama gave me a bath. I am uncontrollably fluffy. What can a puppy do when they have "flyaway hair"?
There is a big ant bed where I like to sit and play in the back yard. Mama keeps rushing out when I sit there because she is sure that there will be ants all over me. It's kinda funny. I hate to tell her that I have an agreement with the ants. I won't "go" on them, and they won't go on me! We will see how long that lasts.
I hope I will see you at the Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday! Mama has been baking a lot of cookies just for you!
Licks and kisses, Joey
The Quilting Angels charity bee meets this coming Monday,
March 19, at Quilter’s Emporium. We get
started at round 10:00, and wind down around 3:00. Anyone who would like to help sew quilts for
charitable causes is welcome to join us.
We use donated fabrics that have been assembled into kits. The kits are cut out and ready to sew. Each person can choose what quilt they want
to work on. There are easier quilt patterns and intermediate level quilt
patterns to choose from. All you need to
bring is your sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, and a lunch.
There is no
pressure to finish your quilt top in a hurry, or to take anything home to
complete. Unfinished kits are kept in a
bag and returned the next time we meet for the person who is working on it to
sew on again. There are people who
choose to take the quilt top home to work on it, and we are great with
that. All we ask is that it be returned
to us once complete, since the fabric is donated in good faith that it will be
used for charity.
We will have a good stack of quilts needing the binding
sewn down, as usual. So if you just want
to hand bind, bring a needle and join us!
We would love donations of backing fabric, 5 1/2 yards
and more. Only 100% cotton fabrics,
please. Maybe you bought backing fabric
for a quilt you never made. Or maybe you
saw a pretty fabric you couldn’t resist, and bought enough for backing, then
never used it. Either way, we can put it
to good use!
You can contact me by emailing Susan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hoping to see lots of happy Quilter’s on Monday!

Allpeoplequilt March Madness Large Group category!! YAY!!!
I am so proud of you guys.

picture. Please try to go out and vote
for our picture. Voting for week 2 is
March 16 – 22. To vote go to http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/pillowcasemadness. We want to stay in the top 7 Places so we
can win one of the cash prizes, so we can go buy more pillowcase fabric. You can only vote once but you can register
to win a daily prize while you are on the site.
It would be so much fun to see the name of someone from Quilter’s
Emporium on the winners list.
3’s challenge is called Charity Choice.
I will have to get more info on what they are wanting. I will keep you posted when I find out.
isn’t just getting votes on our photos that give us points, but at the end of
the month we will get more points for the pillowcases we give to charity. So please keep sewing. You are doing a FANTASTIC job. Barbara and I are having a tough time keeping
up with you. What a wonderful problem to
will get another delivery of pillowcase kits to the shop this weekend. We want to try to keep the draw full so you
always have something to work on. We
still have a shortage of large pieces of print fabric. We have lots of 10 inch tops, and 2 ½ inch
trim strips cut and ready to go as soon as we have bodies cut. Would you consider donating yardage of 100%
cotton fabric from your collection (or purchasing a yard or two)? Pillowcase bodies require 3/4 yd. of fabric. Thank you in advance for any donation you can
make. Our kits are free. Just ask one of the staff for one or more
when you are in the shop. We just ask
that you return the finished pillowcases to QE for our Hospices.
sure to go vote for the picture labeled “Sew ‘til we drop!! And then keep

to all of you who are a part of this great group! We hope you’re having as much fun as we
are! Rose Ann has gone to great lengths
to acquire enough additional Modern Antiques fabric for everybody’s
quilts. We are currently waiting on a
new printing of the background fabric and cutting kits for the rest of the
batik blocks. Once the batik block kits
are complete, we will use the rest of those fabrics to complete the setting
kits (upwards of 70 fabrics, for a truly scrappy quilt).
